Feline panleukopenia is a dangerous viral disease which is common among cats. If left untreated or unvaccinated, it will lead to death.
Approximately 90% of cats within one year of life develop Feline panleukopenia, some of which are acute and some are normal.
In ultra-acute form, kittens will die in 12 hours. However, vaccination should be done at 2 months to prevent panleukopenia disease. About 90% of cats develop panleukopenia disease in the first year of life. And of course today, vaccination has limited the disease.
The treated cat will not develop pan leukopenia disease until the end of its life.
The virus is excreted in the urine and feces and is transmitted through Oronasal.
It also enters the animal’s body through respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts and begins to proliferate and kill cells and weaken the animal’s immune system.
Symptoms of pneumococcal pneumonia are anorexia, diarrhea, and blood diarrhea. If you see these symptoms in your pet and do not visit your veterinarian promptly, the pet will die from dehydration, diarrhea and vomiting within 2 to 3 days.
Clinical Signs of Panleukopenia Disease in Kittens:
Kittens develop the disease between 3 and 5 months and its severity and symptoms depend on the following factors:
1- Age
- Virus severity
- Immunity level
4- Synchronous microbial / parasitic infection
